Few destinations can captivate every generation of a family quite like the Galapagos Islands. Whether you’re planning a multi-generational getaway, traveling with active teens, or enjoying a “skip-gen” trip where grandparents explore the world with their grandkids, the Galapagos offers unforgettable moments for all ages. Imagine the wonder in a child’s eyes as they encounter a giant tortoise—straight out of an E.T. scene—or snorkel alongside playful sea lions.

An Active, Enriching Experience for All Ages
Ecoventura welcomes children as young as six on our 7-night Galapagos cruises, though most families bring children 11 and older. The beauty of the Galapagos is that it’s both adventurous and accessible. You’ll find daily excursions—like hiking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaking—that are active yet not overly strenuous, making them ideal for guests from age 7 to well into their 70s.
For larger groups, chartering a private yacht is a popular option, accommodating up to 20 guests in your own floating home-away-from-home.

Smart Itineraries, Thoughtful Grouping
Ecoventura operates three identical luxury expedition yachts on the same Sunday-to-Sunday schedule. This allows us to thoughtfully group guests—families with younger children on one yacht, those with older children on another—ensuring a more harmonious onboard experience. While we can’t promise a completely adults-only voyage, adults traveling without kids are generally placed together.
Popular Travel Times for Families
Family cruises are especially popular during school breaks and holiday weeks, including:
- Winter Break (February 15-22)
- Spring break (March 8 to 05 April)
- Memorial Day Weekend (May 26–June 2)
- Summer break (June to August)
- Festive Season (Dec 20 to Jan 3)
Parents traveling with college-age or grown children often choose these periods for a shared adventure before everyone’s schedules pull them in different directions.
Designed for Comfort and Connection
Our luxury yachts feature connecting cabins and triples with a pull-down berth—perfect for families. Guests aged 17 and under receive a 15% discount on cruise rates on all departures (excluding festive). These family-friendly cabins sell out quickly during peak travel times, so booking early is recommended.
Educational Fun They’ll Never Forget
The Galapagos is one of the few places on earth where kids can safely get close to wildlife in their natural habitat. Each day brings a new adventure—trekking alongside prehistoric marine iguanas, spotting blue-footed boobies, or kayaking past sea turtles. Our expert naturalist guides make hands-on learning exciting, weaving science and storytelling into every excursion.
Back onboard, kids join naturalists for age-appropriate wildlife talks, scavenger hunts, drawing activities, and games, learning about Galapagos species in a fun, interactive way. Parents can join in or enjoy some leisure time on deck.
For many families, the Galapagos stands out as their #1 family trip of all time—a place where shared experiences create lifelong memories.

Experience the Galapagos as a family through on board activities that are fun for all ages.
- Family Kayak Safari
Paddle as a family through turquoise waters and calm bays where penguins play and sea lions glide. - Sustainable Cooking Class for All Ages

Capture memories that respect the wild—family moments framed in the magic of the Galapagos. A naturalist guide teaches simple techniques for photographing wildlife ethically, so guests can create their own expedition album. - Stargazing
Under a thousand stars, the Galapagos sky becomes your family’s private planetarium. A guided stargazing session where naturalists share both astronomy facts and navigation stories. Families can sip hot cocoa while spotting constellations under minimal deck lighting.
