Day Trips in Quito

Ecuador’s charming capital, nestled in a narrow Andean valley, was the first city to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rich in history, art, and culture, its beautifully preserved historic center features magnificent cathedrals, ornate wood carvings, flower-filled balconies, and cobblestone courtyards that reflect the legacy of the 16th-century Spanish colonial era.

Tours include transportation from hotels located within Quito city limits. An additional transportation fee applies for guests staying at airport-area hotels in Tababela.

Discover Quito’s Historic Center on a privately guided walking tour, beginning with a visit to El Panecillo, the iconic hill overlooking the city and home to the Winged Virgin statue, visible from nearly every corner of Quito.

Continue on foot through the historic center, visiting the Church of San Francisco and its Museum of Religious Art, the ornate La Compañía Church with its seven tons of gold leaf, and the lively Independence Plaza, surrounded by the Presidential Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Combine Quito’s Historic Center with a visit to the Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World), where you can stand on both hemispheres at once. Latitude Zero marks the site where the historic French Geodesic Mission determined the location of the Equator.

Visit the Equatorial Monument and the Intiñan Ethnographic Museum, featuring exhibits on pre-Columbian cultures, Ecuador’s geography, astronomy, and natural sciences.

The tour also includes a privately guided walk through Quito’s Historic Center, beginning with a visit to El Panecillo, the iconic hill overlooking the city and home to the Winged Virgin statue. Continue to the Church of San Francisco and its Museum of Religious Art, the ornate La Compañía Church with its seven tons of gold leaf, and the lively Independence Plaza, surrounded by the Presidential Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Combine a privately guided walking tour of Quito’s Historic Center with your choice of a visit to Mitad del Mundo, the Capilla del Hombre (Chapel of Man), or the Teleférico.

At the Capilla del Hombre, explore the former home and museum of renowned Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasamín with an expert museum guide. Alternatively, ride the Teleférico, ascending the slopes of Pichincha Volcano in a ten-minute cable car journey to an altitude of 4,050 meters, where panoramic views of Quito, the surrounding valleys, and snow-capped volcanoes await.

Lunch is served at La Gloria Restaurant, offering a unique Ecuadorian gastronomic experience. The experience includes a set menu and two non-alcoholic beverages. Please note that La Gloria Restaurant is closed for lunch on Saturdays.
